Comments:
This is a popular central pub, but the recent openings of The Grey Friar, Bar Censsa , Mood and more recently the refurbished Assembly Rooms must surely have eaten away at it's customer base, and its no longer the busy place (especially at weekends) that it once was. This would be a good time to put more live acts on and create a unique pub in the centre.
UPDATE : Sept 2002 - in the past 6 months there have been live bands on virtually every Sat and the crowds have returned.

From the Web site for E. Lancs CAMRA
"Tudor pub with six guest beers always available from a changing range including Cains as a regular. Has a large screen for sport. A games area is off the main room. The pub is twice a previous winner of West Lancs Pub of the Year. Food available from extended menu Mon to Fri afternoons. Open all day. Disabled access is possible".
